Public Speaker / Lecturer

Kirsten Z Cairns has taught and inspired children and adults alike, from toddlers to pensioners! She is passionate about bringing the arts to a wider audience; she has staged shows for children and teenagers, has taught classes in singing, acting, literature, opera and arts and crafts, and performs regularly for Scottish charity ‘Music in Hospitals’, bringing live performance to the elderly and specifically to dementia sufferers.
Kirsten’s background of studies in English Literature, teacher training, music and drama gives her a unique set of skills and knowledge, which she brings to her presentations and masterclasses. She has given talks in many venues, as adult education, as ‘pre-show’ lectures, and as lecture recitals. She has also taught at The Boston Conservatory, The New England Conservatory, and Longy School of Music, both working with singers in performance based masterclasses, and lecturing on subjects ranging from how to put together your resume, to interpretation of French poetry in art song!
Groups who have asked Kirsten to give presentations for them include: Opera North, Beacon Hill Seminars, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston Lyric Opera and the English Speaking Union. Widely regarded as ‘the best speaker on opera in Boston’, Kirsten’s pre-show talks are frequently commented on as one of the highlights of an evening at the theatre.
